Sports race
1997-2000
The first success caught up with it in 1997 when he proclaimed himself Pan-American woman champion in the juvenile category in Havana. A year following he took part in the Juvenile World Championship of Annecy, France, where he classified in fourth position.
Already in category senior, the first important challenge were the Pan-American Games, celebrated in Winnipeg, Canada in 1999 and in which he obtained the silver medal. This made you possible attending the World Championship of Seville in the same year, in which however inexperience did not manage to classify for her final, positioning itself in the position 18.
2000 would be the year of consecration like athlete of worldwide class. He improved your check marks appreciably and for the first time m made in Rhede, Germany were placed between the ten best ones belonging to the worldwide ranking with a throw of 69,36. Besides he took part in the Olympic Games of Sydney where he had one brilliant behavior, and he almost did not win a medal, then positioned himself quarter classified with 68,33 meters, to less than the German Kirsten Münchow's meter, bronze with 69,28 m.
2001-2004
The 2001 confirmed the best expectations that there was on her and for the first time the barrier of the 70 meters managed to surpass. But, most of all, it was a surprise in the World Championships of Edmonton, Canada, winning against all odds the gold medal with your better personal best, 70,65 m, four centimeters more than the Russian favorite Olga Kuzenkova.
In 2002 it continued improving your record, and the best check mark in Madrid made, with 71,47 m, the better quarter of the world that year.
In 2003 dió a new high-quality jump, and accomplished the best season, surpassing all the check marks largely. The woman champion in the Pan-American Games of Saint Dominic with a great throw of 74,25 proclaimed himself m, and the July 17 he made in Savona, Italy, a sensational throw of 75,14 m, that placed her like leader of the year, and the better third class of the whole history in this specialty. In order to complete the year, he proclaimed himself world champion in Paris second time around, with a throw of 73,33 m, proving largely better than the Russian Kuzenkova (silver with 71,71 m.).
2004 was a very important year since they disputed Olympic Games. During the previous months it looked like the maximum favorite was gold, and in fact in April he accomplished in Havana the best personal best, 75,18 again. However in Athens he did not get through so far and only it was able to throw 73,36 m, which is why it was surpassed by the known rival Olga Kuzenkova, that the m knocked 75,05 down, a new Olympic record and he had to resign himself to the silver medal, first Olympic medal that he obtained. For second consecutive year the worldwide ranking of the specialty had the lead.
2005-2008
In 2005 your most important appointment was the World Championship of Helsinki, in Finland and again returned to repeat the same result of the Games of Athens, with Kuzenkova gold medal (75,10 m) and silver medal (73,08 m). Right after the proofs of doping it was verified that Kuzencova had consumed controlled substances and as a consequence was delivered Yipsi the gold medal of the world championship of the 2005 in Helsinki.
During the Olympic Games of Beijing in 2008 Yipsi he did a great 75,20-meter throw that was worth your second Olympic silver medal to him. In the competition it was surpassed for the Byelorussian AksanaMiankova who achieved to whip the Olympic record with one of 76,34.
However, in 2016 he confirmed the Byelorussian's doping, which is why the gold medal should pass the Cuban Dark-Colored, what converts her then on Olympic woman champion.
